Ingredients

  • ¾ cup milk
  • ¼ cup softened margarine
  • 3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • 1 (.25 ounce) package instant yeast
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup softened margarine
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup raisins (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Warm Up the Milk: Heat the milk in a small saucepan until it’s just warm to the touch or forms a few bubbles around the edge. Take it off the heat and stir in the softened margarine until melted. Set this mixture aside.
  2. Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together 2 ¼ cups of flour, white sugar, yeast, and salt.
  3. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Add the milk mixture, water, and egg to the dry ingredients. Beat well to combine.
  4. Knead the Dough: Gradually add the remaining 1 cup of flour, ½ cup at a time, stirring well after each addition. Once the dough comes together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Let the Dough Rest: Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 10 minutes.

  2. Preheat and Grease: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius) and grease a 12-cup muffin pan.
  3. Roll and Fill: Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface into a 12×9-inch rectangle. Spread the brown sugar mixture evenly over the dough, then sprinkle with raisins (if using).
