This delicious chili recipe is so simple, it only requires 5 ingredients! My dad and I created it, and everyone who’s tried it has loved it. It’s perfect for a weeknight meal when you’re short on time.


  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15 ounce) can chili beans, undrained
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder, or to taste
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste


  1. Brown the Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add the Beans and Sauce: Stir in the drained and rinsed kidney beans, undrained chili beans, and tomato sauce. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  3. Season and Simmer: Reduce heat to low, stir in the chili powder, and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Editor’s Tip:

Canned beans and tomato sauce can vary in sodium content. The chili will become saltier as it simmers. Wait to add salt until the end to ensure you don’t over-salt your dish.
