This refreshing cocktail featuring Campari® and sweet vermouth was popularized by American tourists in Italy. Think of it as a Negroni, but with a lighter touch, perfect for afternoon sipping at a charming cafe in Rome or even enjoying a taste of Italy at home.


  • 2 cups ice
  • 1 ½ fluid ounces Campari® or similar bitter orange aperitif
  • 1 ½ fluid ounces sweet vermouth
  • 3 ounces club soda, or as needed
  • 1 (1 inch) piece orange peel


  1. Fill a tall glass with ice.
  2. Pour in Campari and sweet vermouth.
  3. Stir gently to combine.
  4. Top with club soda, adjusting the amount to your preference.
  5. Express the oils from the orange peel by squeezing it over the drink, then drop it in for garnish.
